The past year year has been filled with division. Let’s bring His focus to our lives through a time of prayer and fasting. Let’s be like Daniel—one of the Bible’s great prophets— who, despite living in a culture steeped in pagan practices, chose intimacy with God. Daniel avoided meats, rich foods, and wine. God honored his obedience. He took Daniel and made him even better.
Our 21-day Daniel Fast* begins Monday, January 7 and runs through Sunday, January 27. We’ll all gather corporately with a Laying on of Hands service at both the East and West Campus on Friday, January 25 at 7:30 p.m. During our partial fast we won’t eat meat, sweets, or processed foods. A clean and simple diet of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains will mean less time to think about what to eat and more time focused on God.
*Listen to your body. The 21-day fast can, and should, be adjusted or shortened to suit your lifestyle. Consult a doctor if you have health issues or if you are pregnant or nursing.
The Daniel Fast is a clean, simple, partial fast with no meat or processed foods like white rice, sugar, or solid fats. It is a diet of harvestable foods, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, beans, and LOTS of water.
Literally and spiritually, The Daniel Fast* requires preparation. At least a week or so ahead of time, do the following:
You don’t need to go it alone. Sharing and praying during The Daniel Fast will lead to greater success. Visit our social media platforms for live inspiration from Pastor David and your Christ Church family.
Learn about The Laying on of Hands, a Bible phrase that describes one of the practices Jesus and the apostles used to help people. The Laying on of Hands is used for imparting spiritual and natural blessings, healing and deliverance, and much more.
Pray for at least one miracle you want the Lord to do for you, your family, and community in the New Year.
Expect, in faith, that when hands are laid on you, God will release His blessings in your life. Our Laying on of Hands service is done in conjunction with our corporate fast because we believe that through fasting, God will expand our capacity to receive–by opening up our hearts and minds in a powerful way.
