What is the Ministry Internship Program?

Christ Church desires to develop leaders who are fully prepared for the challenges and opportunities of ministry—either in their local communities or abroad. Our internship program is built as a leadership development strategy that connects each intern with an internship program that is focused on ministry and leadership growth.

Are you attending a Seminary or Bible College, and need some practical experience?  If so, our ministry internship program is geared just for you. We will identify a select group of (25) twenty-five students who have a specific ministry calling, and would like to advance in a ministry leadership position, plant a church, or be a part of church plant ministry team.

When are the Ministry Internships offered?

The Ministry Internship program is offered during the Spring and Fall semesters, as well as an intensive three-week Summer program.

We are currently accepting applications for the Summer Internship Program.

  1. This internship is a three-week, full-time intensive program which begins July 11th through July 29th. 2016.
  2. The summer internship program is from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., but may vary depending on the activity scheduled for that week (i.e., field trip, missional outreach, etc.).  Successful completion of the program will equate to 120 hours or 1 seminary credit.
  3. The primary internship location will be held at Christ Church (West Campus), 140 Green Pond Road, Rockaway, New Jersey.  This beautiful sprawling 101-acre property is conveniently located less than 40 minutes west from New York City.

What will you receive?

Multi-cultural and Megachurch Setting

Christ Church is a 7,000 member multisite, multiracial congregation representing over 40 different nationalities. This affords each intern with a broad range of learning opportunities; such as, church management, operations, creative arts, major event management, and social media strategies. Practical Ministry

We believe that teaching and experience go hand-in-hand, and that the integration of information and application is the key to the intern’s success. Each intern will choose from (2) two significant areas of ministry to engage in practical ministry; such as, Children’s Ministry, Creative Arts, Small Groups, Missions, Church Operations, Pulpit Ministry, or Youth Ministry, just to name a few. Personal and Group Mentoring

Interns are linked with a personal mentor who meets weekly for one-on-one meetings for personal reflection on ministry challenges, project evaluation, as well as spiritual, relational and character issues. Clusters are also formed to engage in group mentoring to glean from the experiences of others.

Field Trips

The internship experience offers an opportunity to attend two, full-day field trips to a local church, or parachurch organization.  The purpose of the field trip is to glean from different ministry settings. They will receive a tour of the facility, and an overview of that church’s theme, and operations.

Missional Outreach

Once per week, the intern will have an opportunity to serve at a local social service agency; i.e., soup kitchen, homeless shelter, Food Bank, etc. This will provide experiential knowledge into serving the community, and diverse groups.

Spiritual Formation

We want each intern to be intimately acquainted with the voice of God. Each intern will be spending time building relationships mentored by some of our best leaders on the topic of prayer, and the Holy Spirit. The intern will have an opportunity participate in the weekly staff chapel. To learn about our beliefs click here.
