Desired Related Majors: Facilities Mgmt., Grounds Maintenance, Landscape Mgmt. and Design
As the Facilities Intern, you will be working with the Facilities Department in work order management, building and grounds maintenance as well as day-to-day operations.
What You Will Learn:
- How to review and implement work orders.
- How to inspect systems and components for the purpose of identifying repair and replacement needs.
- How to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- How to operate equipment such as: nail guns, saws, drills, and other hand and power tools.
- How to support the installation, maintenance, and servicing of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems.
What You Will Do:
- Assist with any repairs/maintenance that needs to be completed (repairs may include but not limited to: spackling, painting, ceiling tile replacement, bulb replacements, etc.)
- Participates in all facility planning meetings and coordinates the setup of multi–purpose rooms and common areas under the direction of the Facilities Associate.
- Assist the facilities team with breakdown maintenance and repairs on all equipment in the facility.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance, sanitation, and cleaning of all equipment within the facility, as well as general cleaning and upkeep of the facility itself.
- Review jobsite needs with the foreman to determine needed maintenance, improvements and service work.
- Support daily upkeep of the grounds and appearance of the property.
What We Require:
- Able to lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to eighty-five (85) pounds.
- Ability to climb up and down ladders.
- Highly capable and comfortable with using power tools and facility-related equipment.
- Possession of a valid NJ driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be a self-starter and self-motivated; open to constructive criticism and feedback.
- Must be a team player and flourish in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
