What happened when I prayed?

You may be asking, “What happened when I prayed?” In short, two things happened. First, when you prayed to be forgiven of all of your sins, it means that Jesus Christ became your Savior. Second, your prayer enabled you to become a child of God. The Bible calls this experience salvation. Congratulations! You are now saved.

What should I realize?

In order for you to live your new life there are three important things to realize. They all stem from the reality of this verse: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). First, all of us have sinned. Sin means to miss the mark or target. This means that you were a sinner just like me. Second, you could not save yourself through good works or any other means. Third, you are in need of a Savior. The Bible teaches: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23). Jesus is the Savior of the world. And today, through your prayers, Jesus has become your Savior.

What should I do now?

There are two things you should do now. First, tell someone that you’ve accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior. Sharing that news will help cement your decision. Second, at your earliest convenience watch the three-minute video below. It will further explain your experience of salvation, also known as the new birth.
