Single, Saved & Parenting: Encouragement for the Young Adult Single Parent

Being a single mom as a young adult has been both rewarding and challenging these last few years. Yet through it all, I’ve learned to trust God. God has blessed me with an amazingly talented son who has a smile that can light up a room. He has also blessed me and my son with a village who genuinely cares for us, supports us, and prays for us. Our village consists of my family, friends and church family. Shout out to THE SQUAD for having our back from day one! After God, I don’t know where I would be without these wonderful people. I would have probably lost my mind. As a single parent, it is important to have people in your life that will walk with you during this journey. It took me awhile to learn this, but it is okay to ask for help. You can’t do this alone. IT TAKES A VILLAGE!

Many of us have walked different paths that have led us to become single parents and whatever the case may be, GOD CAN STILL USE YOU. No matter what your past looks like, God still loves you. No matter what you’ve been through, He still cares about you. With effective counseling, pastoral care and guidance you will find yourself emotionally, mentally and spiritually healthier. Both you and your child(ren) benefit from a healthier you. I know this because I’ve experienced this.

I’m blessed to be a part of a church that allows me to serve despite my marital status (divorced). I say this because I grew up in a church where you weren’t allowed to be in a leadership position if you were divorced. You were only “allowed” to serve as a volunteer, but not as a leader. If you aren’t serving in a ministry or within your community, I encourage you to do so. You may be the answer to an unmet need. Using your gifts in a ministry or your community is life changing! It’s a blessing to be a blessing!

The last thing I want to leave with you is to TRUST GOD’S TIMING. God knows the desires of your heart (i.e. spouse, new home, new job, etc.). He knows what to send, who to send and when to send it. The waiting process won’t always be easy, but I believe it will be worth it in the end. God will always make a way. He may not come when you want Him to, but He is ALWAYS on time. He has done it for me and I know He’ll do it for you. Trust that God has your back!

It is my prayer that you remain encouraged as you continue to raise your child(ren). Do not allow your past or what you’ve been through to keep you from being used by God. God loves you. God cares for you. God is with you. He will never leave you or forsake you. Blessings!

Your girl, Wodline
