Small Groups: Where Friends Become Family

They’re where people are known, prayed for, encouraged, and challenged to grow in their faith.

And as a Small Group Leader, you simply create the space where that can happen. You don’t have to be a Bible expert or have all the answers.

Your role is simple: welcome people, guide conversation, and care for others while growing alongside them.

We’ll train you, coach you, and support you every step of the way — you won’t lead alone. If you care about people and are willing to grow, you can lead a group.

You Can Lead a Group If You:

  • Enjoy helping people feel welcome and included
  • Can help guide a conversation (not teach a sermon)
  • Care about helping people grow in their faith and relationships
  • Are open to learning and growing yourself

We’ll help equip you with everything else.

With our guidance and support, here's how you can begin the journey toward becoming a Christ Church Small Group Leader.

Step 1

Submit Your Application

Complete a brief application so we can get to know you, your story, and your desire to lead.
Step 2

Complete the Leadership Review Process

Qualified applicants will be invited to continue through our leadership review process, which includes:

  • A personal interview
  • A background check
  • Leadership training
  • Final leadership approval

Please note: Submitting an application does not guarantee selection as a Small Group Leader.
Step 3

Launch Your Small Group

Once approved, our team will help you launch your group, list it in our directory, and connect participants with you. You simply focus on creating an environment where people can grow in their faith and build authentic relationships.

Before You Apply

Leading a Small Group is both a privilege and a responsibility. Because Small Group Leaders represent Christ Church, we ask every applicant to carefully review our Statement of Faith before applying. Applicants who move forward in the leadership process will be asked to affirm that they are in agreement with Christ Church's Statement of Faith.

Anyone who feels called to lead, meets the requirements, and aligns with the mission and values of Christ Church is encouraged to apply. They regularly attend Christ Church each week and consider it their primary church. Others describe them as a member.

Prior leadership experience is helpful but not required. We value a teachable spirit, a growing faith, and a willingness to serve. And in addition to the leadership training that we provide, we’re also here to provide ongoing support and answer questions along the way.

Yes. Because Small Group Leaders help guide spiritual conversations and care for people, we ask all leaders to be familiar with and aligned with Christ Church’s core beliefs and values. If you’re exploring leadership, we encourage you to review our “What We Believe” page as part of the process.

Becoming a Small Group Leader involves a few simple steps. You’ll complete the application, submit a background check, attend a one-day training, participate in a brief virtual interview, and complete a short Christian Doctrine Assessment Survey.

Once everything is complete, our ministry team will review your application and follow up with next steps. We’re here to support you throughout the process.
