Water Baptism is an incredible demonstration of your new life in Christ! When you get baptized, you’re publicly declaring your faith in Jesus and letting the whole world know your totally committed to following Him. Why Should I Be Baptized?

Water Baptism is for anyone who has become a believer and follower of Jesus as their Lord and Savior. We encourage all who have made a decision to follow Christ to be Water Baptized. It is part of being a disciple (disciplined follower) as taught by Jesus: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19).

If you haven't taken this faith-building step yet, then we encourage you to do so at our next Water Baptism Sunday—which takes place at our Montclair & Rockaway campuses during all services on Sunday, May 18, 2025! This day of celebration will be highlighted by people, just like you, making an outward expression of their inward change!

What Is Water Baptism?

Water Baptism is a beautiful picture of what our Lord has done for us. As we are completely immersed in the water, we symbolize burial with our Lord; we are baptized into His death on the cross and are no longer slaves to self or sin (Romans 6:3–7).

When we are raised out of the water, we are symbolically resurrected—raised to new life in Christ to be with Him forever, born into the family of our loving God (Romans 8:16).

Water Baptism also illustrates the spiritual cleansing we experience when we are saved; just as water cleanses the flesh, so the Holy Spirit cleanses our hearts when we trust Christ.

If you were baptized as an infant—but have made a decision to follow Christ as an adult—we encourage you to be Water Baptized based on your new personal faith.

When Is the Next Water Baptism?

Our next baptism is slated for Sunday, May 18, 2025. Our Water Baptism Service Schedule is as follows:

Rockaway Campus: 9:00am, 11:00am, 1:00pm

Montclair Campus: 9:00am, 11:00am, 1:00pm

Clifton Campus: Takes place at 1:00pm service in Montclair.*

How Do I Prepare?

It’s simple. Here’s what you need to know:

You must be born again. Namely, one who has become a follower of Christ and entered into a personal relationship with Him. “…He that believes and is baptized shall be saved…” (Mark 16:16; John 3:3-8; Romans 10:9-10)
You must attend the Pre-Water Baptism Class either in person or online. The class will help you understand the meaning of Water Baptism and its significance. If you’re a minor, we ask for parental approval.
You must acknowledge the Christ Church Doctrinal Statement. The doctrinal statement will be completed during registration and helps confirm that you understand and are not in conflict with the fundamental Christian Doctrines of Christ Church. These doctrines should be accepted without violation of conscience. However, opportunities are available to receive clarifications if needed.
