Message from Our Lead Pastor
In 2019, God moved in an incredible way in many areas of our ministry. Our Defending Your Faith apologetics courses equipped 800 people with knowledge, useful tools, and practical skills to articulate, defend, and share their faith with competence and confidence. And through our Quest College Ministry, we also taught these classes at different local colleges and universities to impact students.
In addition, the culmination of our 4RStudents Movement—through your tremendous generosity—resulted in the completed renovation of our student ministry spaces at both campuses.
We also had a September to remember thanks to what we called, Welcome Back Month.
During each weekend in September, there was a specific element of our service focused on relational growth. It was through these efforts that 200 people joined our
Small Groups, 400 people signed up to become volunteers, and 100
people were baptized, as well as other great examples of our Christ Church community flourishing.
We’re extremely thankful and humbled by all that God was able to do through our ministry in what was an unforgettable year! We look forward to more life-transforming ministry.
Our King Cometh!
Dr. David Ireland
Our volunteers are the best! Every facet of our ministry is strengthened by amazing people who give of their time, energy, and talent. This year, our collective efforts led to more than 1,500 decisions for Christ and we proudly welcomed 200 new members into our church family!
*Dream Team = Volunteers who support the Christ Church staff during business hours
**First Impressions Team (Welcome Services) = Ushers, Greeters, and Welcome Center Hosts who help ensure a warm and friendly environment to all guests during our weekend experience

In February 2019, we began hosting a nine-week apologetics course at both campuses titled, Defending Your Faith. Through these classes, hundreds were trained and equipped to answer difficult questions about the Christian faith through lectures, video snippets, debates, and small-group discussions. By the end of the course, they were empowered to defend their faith in a way that is logical, reasonable, and always open-minded—invariably with the goal of winning people to Christ in mind.
We followed this winter offering with a seven-week fall semester in October. And for both semesters, we also took the course to college campuses via our Quest College Ministry. In total, 800 people were better equipped to become more effective disciples! Defending Your Faith serves as a practical yet powerful representation of how we walk out our missional statement of Uniting People to God and People to People.
If you’re interested in taking an apologetics course, we still offer Defending Your Faith online. Visit DefendingFaith.org to learn more and register.
LEARN MOREAround here, we lovingly refer to Small Groups as the heartbeat of Christ Church. Whether you are in a LIFE Group, which consists of about 5-12 members that meet twice per month, or a LIFE Activity Group, which offers you the opportunity of sharing an interest or hobby with like-minded people—there’s a Small Group waiting for you!
There are groups for married couples, singles, teens, young adults, and more designed to foster spiritual growth and community. Check out the video below to see how our Small Groups transform friends into family!

LEARN MOREIn March, our 4RS Movement—in which you generously pledged to go above and beyond your tithes and offerings to give to the next generation—came to a close. This ending marked the beginning of a cultural shift; the emphasized focus on our youth means that student ministry will be at the forefront of our Church culture. Although we recognize that we still have work to do to make student ministries one of our greatest strengths, in 2019 we made major strides! From the unveiling of our mascots (Tripp and Journey) and hundreds of children gathering at our 2019 VBS, to an overnight Teen Retreat at our Montclair Campus, to us bringing our apologetics course (Defending Your Faith) to local college campuses—each area of our student ministry was strengthened. This would not be possible without your faithful commitment! The renovation of our student spaces at both campuses serves as a bold reminder that Christ Church will never be the same. Thank you for being 4RStudents!
Tripp and Journey became a part of our Quest Kids family; Quest Teens gathered for an evening of Small Groups; Quest College interns acquired hands-on experience; and Quest Young Adults met for a night of worship and fellowship.

LEARN MOREPower Up was the theme for our 2019 Vacation Bible School (VBS), and our foundational Scripture for our exciting full-day, weeklong summer camp was:
"God's power has given us everything we need to lead a godly life."
God’s power was certainly on display throughout the week as children (Rising Kindergarten–Rising 5th Grade) grew in relationship amongst each other through sports, games, and fellowship. This awesome ministry opportunity not only led to an unforgettable experience for the kids (and all who participated), but we also saw lives forever changed when about a dozen children made a decision for Christ!

LEARN MOREOur 2019 Secrets to a Great Marriage seminar was designed for couples seeking to enjoy a stronger, healthier, and more satisfying marriage. Through practical tips and strategies, as well as interactive exercises, 134 marriages were strengthened! In addition, couples experienced forgiveness as they wrote letters to each other and breakthrough as they renewed their marriage covenants!

LEARN MOREIn November, our Women’s Ministry (Bloom) hosted an impactful one-day conference titled, Be Fearless, led by our very own Dr. Marlinda Ireland, as well as TV personality/author Kristi Watts, and author Kelly Balarie. The conference not only attracted hundreds of women from Christ Church, but it also ministered to women from our surrounding communities and region. In an environment of praise and prayer, over 1,000 women were given practical tips and strategies—designed to empower them to boldly and courageously fulfill their God-given purpose!

LEARN MOREFor the seventh year in a row, Christ Church hosted one of the area’s largest community events, the Tri-County Fair (TCF). Thousands of families enjoyed fireworks, rides, games, food, and much more! TCF provides us a wonderful opportunity to introduce people to the hope of Jesus, and our love-fueled ministry, for the first time. And in 2019, we were blessed to host 15,000 members of the community during this four-day event—with 10,000 first-time visitors!
We couldn’t have done it without our awesome volunteers. Thank you to everyone who helped make our 2019 Tri-County Fair the best yet!

LEARN MOREOur culture of prayer is glaringly evident when we gather annually for Prayerfest, and 2019 was no exception! Every July, thousands gather in an atmosphere of worship, preaching, and of course—PRAYER! This special day is designed to lead every one present to an unforgettable God encounter, and what makes this day extra special is that people come expecting their miracle!
We prepare for Prayerfest over a six-week period, by going on a Prayer Journey that readies our hearts to cry out to God for our personal, regional, and global needs. Year after year, lives are forever changed through the transformative ministry that happens on this unforgettable day!

LEARN MOREFollowing the success of The Preaching Seminar in 2018, the conference expanded to two days in 2019, with ministry leaders from around the country descending upon our Rockaway Campus. Led by our very own Drs. David and Marlinda Ireland—along with a team of other renowned and passionate preachers—emerging pastors, seminary students, and other church leaders came together for a time of encouragement and teaching designed to take their ministries to the next level. Armed with practical tips, strategies, and resources, attendees left Christ Church better equipped to empower their congregations and more effectively spread the good news!
Our banner year ended on a strong note—with our “Ticket to Hope” Christmas musical! Through our annual free Christmas Concert, we engaged the community with a dramatic performance that featured acting, dancing, and of course, singing! “Ticket to Hope” was much more than a blend of the arts that delighted thousands in our community; it was a triumphant and powerful reminder that Jesus is the reason for the season!
As a church, we fully embrace Jesus' Great Commission (Matthew 28:16-19) and have accepted His call to cross-culturally share the Gospel. And we are so thankful that your faithful giving allows us to take our ministry to every part of the globe. Our Missions philosophy (see buttons below) reminds people that there are many ways to be missions-minded even if you never step foot on a plane.
In 2019, our hearts were in the heart of Central America—Nicaragua! In two separate missions trips, we witnessed healing, restoration, and lives transformed by Christ!
